Rahul Dutta, MD, grew up in New Jersey and attended an accelerated combined BS/MD program through The College of New Jersey and Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. While in medical school, he was accepted into the Leadership & Innovation Fellowship Training program at the University of California, Irvine, where he completed a year of clinical and translational research in urology. After earning his medical degree, he completed a six-year residency in urologic surgery at Wake Forest University School of Medicine. He then completed fellowship training in Urogynecology & Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery at the University of California, Los Angeles, before joining the urology faculty at Erlanger.
Dr. Dutta specializes in the care of complex male and female voiding dysfunction, urogynecology, neurourology, cancer survivorship, pelvic organ prolapse, urinary incontinence, prostatic enlargement, and general urologic conditions. He is experienced in multiple surgical approaches and techniques, including open surgery, prosthetics, upper and lower urinary tract endoscopy, vaginal surgery, laparoscopy, and robotic surgery.
Dr. Dutta is actively involved in clinical urologic research and has authored more than 40 peer-reviewed publications and over five book chapters. He also prioritizes teaching residents and medical students. Outside of work, he enjoys hiking, discovering new music, reading, weightlifting, traveling, and trying new restaurants.
