McKinley Waugh, DNP
Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner

McKinley Waugh is a certified pediatric nurse practitioner specializing in urology. She provides comprehensive urologic assessments, develops patient- and family-centered treatment plans, and manages care for acute and chronic pediatric urologic conditions. She finds the most rewarding part of her work to be seeing her patients’ health improve and building relationships with patients and their families.

Before becoming a pediatric nurse practitioner, McKinley worked as a registered nurse in the pediatric float pool at Children’s Hospital at Erlanger, serving in the neonatal intensive care unit, pediatric intensive care unit, pediatric acute care, and pediatric emergency department. She received her Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. While in graduate school, she completed her DNP Scholarly Project, “Educating School Nurses to Improve Bowel Continence in Children with Spina Bifida,” which focused on spina bifida and bowel management education. McKinley is certified as a pediatric nurse practitioner by the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board.

McKinley credits her passion for pediatrics and urology to her niece, who was born with spina bifida. She has seen firsthand how impactful urologic problems such as incontinence can be for children, both physically and mentally, and how resilient children can be. She hopes to help children in the Chattanooga area living with urologic conditions reach their full potential.
